Test drive a career in road building and heavy construction

VANCOUVER

The B.C. Road Builders & Heavy Construction Association will once again be hosting a Women in Construction Industry Night at the upcoming Heavy Construction Show. The evening will celebrate women currently working in the industry and will also promote its industry training programs/the exciting career opportunities available in road building and heavy construction.

The event will take place on Friday, June 1, from 6:00 to 9:00 in the evening, at the Heavy Construction Show being held at the Tradex in Abbotsford on June 1 and 2.

Members of this year’s graduating class should think about trading in their caps and gowns for hard hats and steel toed boots.

The road building and heavy construction industry is looking at a significant retirement rate over the next five years. In addition, with 2010 Olympic and Pacific Gateway projects underway, there are many lucrative careers available for men and women alike.

The media are invited to come “test drive” some heavy equipment and learn more about training and career opportunities in conjunction with the Heavy Construction Show and the B.C. Road Builders hosted Women in Construction Industry Night.

The B.C. Road Builders and Heavy Construction Association is a non-profit organization that represents over 200 companies involved in the industry. Over the past two years, the Association has developed a series of training programs to recruit and train new workers.
