British Columbia Water and Waste Association members set to gather at annual convention
More than one thousand delegates are expected to descend on Whistler to learn about water and waste, share their knowledge, network and have a little fun.
The British Columbia Water and Waste Association (BCWWA) is holding its 36th Annual convention and trade show in Whistler April 26 to April 30.
“This is a great opportunity for networking and skill sharing,” said David Icharia, BCWWA operations director.
The week will include technical sessions, a trade show, an AGM, a technical tour of Olympic facilities, and a Top Ops and Pump Teardown competitions
This year’s theme is Climate of Change and the keynote address will be delivered by Robert Sanford. For the teardown competition, operators will test their team’s maintenance skills, dexterity and knowledge while working on a dry submersible pumping system and a smaller hypochlorite injection pump.
Each three-member team will be required to properly isolate all energy sources, perform maintenance functions including removal, installation and rebuilding or upgrading of various parts with prizes going to winning teams. The five technical sessions will touch on a variety of topics including climate change and energy efficiency.
“These are an important part our agenda,” Icharia explained.
The Small Water System of the Year Award will also be handed out during the conference. Golf and recreational tours are also on the agenda.
