CYPRESS MOUNTAIN
A new day lodge is being built on Cypress Mountain between the two main chairlifts.
Normerica creates warm retreat at Cypress Mountain
The 48,000-square-foot timber structure at Cypress Mountain will feature a large main floor family restaurant, a banquet room, a corporate meeting space, and a large bar and grill overlooking the Super Pipe.
The new facility will also house guest services, administration office, ticket office, ski rentals, ski school and a retail store. Cypress Resort is the official freestyle skiing and snowboard venue for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
West Vancouver-based Cypress Mountain Resorts Ltd. is the developer and a number of companies are involved in this project, including Normerica (general contractor) and Killick Metz Bowen Rose (architect).
Consulting engineering firms are Glotman Simpson Consulting Engineering (structural), Equilibrium Consulting Ltd (structural), Perez Engineering (mechanical) and Roy Campbell Consulting Ltd. (electrical).
Construction started in April and will be completed by December.
