PAX Construction Ltd. builds Vancouver East Cultural Centre

General contractor PAX Construction Ltd. is building the Vancouver East Cultural Centre project to LEED Silver standards. Construction of the City of Vancouver facility began in August 2007 and completion is expected by August 2009.

Proscenium Architecture and Interiors Inc. has planned a two-phase expansion program, beginning with new administration and rehearsal spaces and followed by a 100-seat studio theatre and a new lobby.

As part of the first phase, the existing building will also be upgraded, in order to improve acoustics, sightlines, patron comfort and technical capabilities in the present 300-seat theatre.

Several engineering companies are involved in the project, including Read Jones Christoffersen Ltd. (structural), Stantec Consulting Ltd. (mechanical) and Schenke Bawol Engineering Ltd. (electrical).
