Loaded tractor-trailer strikes Edmonton’s 34th Street overpass

A semi-trailer carrying tall construction equipment struck the 34th Street overpass in Edmonton on May 12, 2008. As a result of the collision, the Sherwood Park Freeway was closed in both directions.

No one was injured in the mishap, which caused chunks of concrete to fall from the bridge.

When a car drove across the overpass, more concrete fell.

The overpass was later reopened after engineers from Alberta Infrastructure assessed the damage and determined that it didn’t pose a safety risk to motorists.
