British Columbia government funds seismic upgrades at six more schools
Chilliwack Central Elementary Community, Douglas Road Elementary and Lake Cowichan Secondary are three of the schools in line for a total of $12.3 million from the British Columbia government for seismic upgrades.
All three were identified as high-priority seismic projects in an examination of 700 schools across the province.
The provincial government is also investing $4.5 million for seismic upgrades to three elementary schools in Coquitlam — R.C. MacDonald, Parkland and Anmore. They will have their roofs and walls reinforced, and the walls will be anchored with bolts to the concrete foundation.
