Vrancor negotiates with City of Oshawa for downtown brownfield site
Burlington-based Vrancor Development Corp. is in negotiations with the City of Oshawa to purchase a brownfield site at the corner of Richmond and Simcoe Streets in Oshawa for two dollars.
The low price reflects the remediation required to make the land suitable for a hotel and convention centre Vrancor plans to build on the site.
The company is in negotiations with an undisclosed hotel chain to operate the proposed facility, which will offer a minimum of 130 short- and long-term units.
Vrancor will determine remediation, design and construction schedules once an agreement with a hotel chain is secured.
