UBC engineering students go to great lengths to “bug” outgoing dean

Professor Michael Isaacson arrived for his last official day as Dean of Applied Science at the University of British Columbia to find a red Volkswagen beetle parked in front of his desk.

Placed there by university engineering students, the car was fully equipped with a webcam to catch the dean’s shocked expression.

Isaacson, who served 11 years as dean, will continue to act as Special Advisor to the Acting Dean over the summer months.
