URS Canada completes preliminary designs for Barrie transit facility

URS Canada is completing the preliminary designs for the conversion of a 90,750-square-foot former manufacturing facility into the Barrie Transit Operations and Maintenance Facility.

Located on a 12-acre site at 133 Welham Road, the new facility will house bus wash areas, parts storage, inside vehicle storage for the transit fleet, administrative offices, a driver dispatch facility and a driver’s area with lockers.

URS Canada will complete all design work for the project, including the structural, mechanical and electrical engineering designs.

URS Canada expects to begin the detailed designs for the building early in 2009. The tender for the general contractor is expected in June 2009.
