Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes

Commission puts national building, fire and plumbing codes online

Beginning on January 26, 2009, the 2005 National Building, Fire and Plumbing Codes, the supplementary Guides and the 2006 Alberta Building and Fire Codes will be available via an on-line Web-based subscription service.

Benefits of the new on-line subscription service include:

• Access 24/7 to the most up-to-date codes (html format).

• Access from almost any computer connected to the Internet. (Requires Explorer 6 or FireFox 2 browser).

• Powerful search engine.

• Choice of annual subscription or 10-day subscription.

• No administration, installation or maintenance required.

• Printing capability.

• Timely access, with subscriptions activated within one business day.

The 2005 National Building, Fire and Plumbing Codes of Canada are used as models for virtually all building and fire regulations in Canada. They establish the minimum requirements for safe and healthy built environments.

Considered as an indispensable source of information for building, fire and plumbing officials, as well as construction professionnals and educators, the codes are also available in printed and CD-ROM formats.
