Swiss firm ABB Group acquires Edmonton-based Sinai Engineering

ABB Group, a global power and automation technology company, has acquired Edmonton-based Sinai Engineering. The acquisition will allow the Swiss company to strengthen their involvement in Western Canada, particularly in providing engineering services to oil and gas and utility customers.

Sinai has been in operation since 1984 and provides engineering, procurement and construction management services in the areas of generation, transmission, and distribution of electric power.

In 2008, Sinai employed about 40 workers, half of them were highly qualified engineers

ABB employs about 120,000 people in 100 countries, including 2,300 in Canada.
