New trades training facility planned for Saskatoon

Trades training in Saskatchewan is getting a boost with the construction of a new trades training facility. The federal and provincial governments are investing in the Saskatoon Trades and Skills Centre (STSC).

It will be designed and built as a 780 square-metre educational training facility for trades.

The STSC will offer programs for students older than 18 to facilitate their movement directly into the workplace. The facility will train 325 to 350 trades-people per year and support the mining, manufacturing and construction sectors.

The STSC will operate through a partnership between educational institutes, First Nations and Métis organizations, as well as the public and private sectors in Saskatchewan.
