Construction Specifications Canada salutes members at Saskatoon conference
Awards recognize achievements at local, national level
SASKATOON
Construction Specifications Canada honoured architects David McGuigan and Gerry Wilson with Life Membership Awards, the association’s highest accolade, during the CSC’s annual conference in Saskatoon May 26 to 30
Construction Specifications Canada is a national multi-disciplinary, non-profit association that focuses on the development and delivery of education programs, publications and services for the construction community.
The CSC awards recognize members for their local and national achievements.
McGuigan, a Vancouver-based architect, is a 36-year member of CSC and served as president in 1987-88.
Saskatoon architect Wilson — who retired last year from FDH Architects — has been a member of CSC since 1977 and has held a number of executive positions with the association, including the presidency in 1997-98.
Awards of Merit were presented to members from the CSC’s various chapters (Atlantic Canada, Calgary, Ottawa, Saskatoon, Toronto and Vancouver) who have “contributed to the advancement of CSC at the chapter level for a substantial period of time.”
The National Award of Merit, which recognizes “the contribution on the part of the member in terms of time, zeal and effort, beyond that normally required by a member or officer of CSC,” went to Mike Schneider of Edmonton-based Capital Construction.
Program Directors Awards were presented to members who have made a significant contribution to a CSC Program.
The Lloyd Boddy Chapter of the Year Award, which recognizes “outstanding achievements by a chapter toward fostering the objectives of CSC,” went to the Winnipeg chapter.
President’s Chapter Awards — given to “active, forward looking chapters” for growth, conference and meeting attendance and financial contributions to the CSC — went to the Atlantic, Edmonton, Hamilton/Niagara, Montreal, Regina, Saskatoon, Vancouver and Winnipeg. Members with 10 to 40 years of service received Longevity Awards.
See below for a full list of award recipients.
CSC also inducted three of its members into its College of Fellows during the Saskatoon conference: Bruce Duncan, a 23-year member who originally joined the CSC Winnipeg chapter and is now a member of the London chapter; David Lawrence of the Edmonton chapter, who joined CSC in 1983; and Susan Morris, an 18-year member of the Vancouver chapter.
