Edmonton roofer dies

A construction worker is dead after falling of the roof at a worksite in southwest Edmonton last week.

“Two workers were roofing when one of the workers lost his balance and fell approximately 25 feet,” said Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) spokesperson Barrie Harrison. “He was wearing a safety harness and was attached to the end of his rope, but the rope was too long.”

The incident happened on Feb. 3 at 9:15 a.m. at 4105 Westcliff Road in the Windermere neighbourhood in Edmonton. The 38-year old man was employed by Hype Roofing.

“The man was transported to hospital where he passed away that afternoon,” said Harrison

Alberta OH&S issued a stop work order at the site and is undertaking an investigation of the incident.
