Worker killed by falling air handling unit
A construction worker has been killed while installing a piece of equipment at the University of Lethbridge.
“A 31-year old man was fatally injured after an air handling unit tipped over on him in the basement of a new residence under construction,” said Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) spokesperson Brookes Merritt.
“A construction crew was positioning the unit at the time.”
The incident happened on Nov. 14 at 1:15 p.m. and the man was employed by Zero Gravity Cranes and Rigging Inc.
The prime contractor on the project is Stuart Olson Dominion and the subcontractor is KB Heating. The RCMP and OH&S officials are investigating.
