Keith Sashaw leaving the VRCA

Keith Sashaw is stepping down as president of the Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA) to take a job with the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies B.C. (ACEC-BC).

The move is effective in mid-January.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at VRCA, and can look back with pride at VRCA’s accomplishments during the time that I have had the privilege of serving as president,” said Sashaw.

“The association has grown in membership and influence, and is in a strong and positive position. Through a close and collegial collaboration with the board, staff and VRCA members, I am proud to have played a role in these achievements.”

Jan Robinson, will assume the role of president on an interim basis while the VRCA board explores options for future leadership.

Robinson has held the role of director of finance and administration with the VRCA for the past four years.

She is also a past president of the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE).

Sashaw was appointed VRCA president in March 2001.

Prior to his time with the VRCA, Sashaw was the executive vice-president of the Electrical Contractors Association of B.C., and executive vice-president of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of B.C. from 1985 to 1999.

For the last few years, Sashaw has been an integral part of the Journal of Commerce Editorial Advisory Board, as well as serving as secretary to the VanASEP Training Society and sitting on a number of advisory committees for the British Columbia Institute of Technology and other organizations.

He is also a trustee to the BCCA Group Benefit Plan.

“Keith has made significant contributions to VRCA and the construction industry in British Columbia over the last 12 years as president of our association,” said Don Nishimura, chairman of the board at the VRCA.

“On behalf of VRCA and all its members, I would like to wish Keith well in his new endeavors and sincerely thank him for his leadership.”
