Welders like new program
The Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) got behind the new Federal Skilled Trades program introduced by Canada's Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney, which will make it easier for immigrants to land trades jobs in Canada.
The bureau said the program will help address the growing demand for skilled welders in the country – a demand Canada currently can’t keep up with.
“CWB Group has been working diligently for some time in many countries, pre-qualifying welders so they meet Canadian standards and are job-ready before immigrating to Canada,” said Craig Martin, vice president of the office of public safety for the CWB.
