VIDEO: The Bentall Four memorial and workplace safety
Every year government, labour and industry gather together to remember the four workers killed on January 7th, 1981 when their fly-form collapsed and they plunged 36 storeys to their deaths.
B.C. Building Trades executive director Tom Sigurdson spoke to the Journal of Commerce about ongoing efforts to ensure workers in British Columbia, particularly in the construction industry, are working in as safe an environment as possible and are properly trained in the importance and application of workplace safety.
WorkSafeBC director Al Johnson also spoke to the Journal about specific efforts his organization is making to ensure the safety of BC workers through inspections and education.
