Training events
The B.C. Industry Training Authority (ITA) is holding a series of community events over the winter months to promote trades training as well as webinars on how to find, hire and manage apprentices.
Two Community Dialogues will be held that cover topics such as challenges to accessing trades training and careers, encouraging youth to consider a career in the trades, and encouraging more employers to invest in training and hiring of apprentices.
The first dialogue took place at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, B.C. on January 15 and the next will be at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, B.C. on March 12.
The ITA is also hosting webinars, or online workshops, to help those looking to hire apprentices on how to find, hire and manage apprentices. The webinar sessions are on February 19th from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. and February 27th, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Registration for the webinars begins on Jan. 21, 2013, on the ITA’s website. JOC NEWS SERVICE
