Granville Street Bridge getting major upgrades
The Granville Street Bridge will be undergoing seismic upgrades and expansion joint replacement from January to December 2013.
The project involves the replacement of the original bridge bearings with new seismic isolation bearings.
This project will greatly increase the seismic performance of the bridge, and in the event of an earthquake, minimize the risk of bridge closures, costly repairs or even bridge decommissioning.
There will be overnight bridge closures (midnight to 5 a.m.) from March until November.
Daytime lane closures will take place from June until October.
Graham Construction and Engineering Inc. is the general contractor on the project.
