Abbotsford worker dies
A construction worker has died about a week after he was involved in a serious workplace incident at a Walmart being built in Abbotsford, B.C.
“We can confirm that the worker succumbed to his injuries,” said WorkSafeBC spokesperson Megan Johnston.
“Our fatal and serious incident team has started an investigation, so we can’t comment further.”
The man, who worked with M& L Painting, died of serious injuries that were sustained on Jan. 23 in the underground parking at High Street Mall.
The worker suffered injuries to the head and neck, when he was trapped between the top rail of a scissor lift and the building.
The unconscious man was removed by Abbotsford firefighters, who used the Jaws of Life on the operator’s bucket of the scissor lift
