Edmonton International Airport mall takes shape

Ivanhoe Cambridge and Edmonton International Airport (EIA) have signed a deal to lease about 45 acres of land to develop a new retail outlet destination, as part of the EIA's Highway Commercial Project.

The Outlet Collection will be located directly adjacent to the Queen Elizabeth II Highway, south of Airport Road.

It will involve the construction of 32,500 square metres of retail outlets under one roof.

Full details will be released in the first half of 2014 and it is scheduled for completion in fall 2016.

The company will open the first of these new projects, The Outlet Collection at Niagara, in May 2014.

The company opened Vaughan Mills in Toronto in 2004 and CrossIron Mills in Calgary in 2009.

EIA is Canada’s fifth-busiest airport by passenger traffic and serves seven million passengers per year.
