VIDEO: Mark Casaletto at BizCon2014/IOSC8
Reed Construction Data Canada vice president and general manager Mark Casaletto was on hand in Maui on February 11th, along with Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. chief economist Anirban Basu to give attendees of the joint conference a peek in to the economic outlook for both Canada and the U.S. in 2014.
Casaletto explained that Canada has several advantages over other industrialized contries, including vast natural resources and a relatively sound financial sector.
But he cautioned that there are challenges ahead for Canada, including an already-present labour shortage and shifting demographics in terms of an aging population and the rise of Western Canada as an economic powerhouse.
Casaletto also pointed to the need for improved infrastructure in Canada, both for existing structures that need upgrades and new infrastructure for rural areas containing valuable resources.
