Note: Engineering design is on-going and the construction schedule is as follows: preliminary site work/access road upgrades is complete; seismic upgrades of the Right Bank (2012-2013); dam upgrades including piers and spillway gates (2013-2017); seismic upgrade of the powerhouse structure (2013-2014); replacement of the powerhouse equipment (2013-2017); relocation of the switchyard (early 2015); & project completion and closeout 2018. Total Capital Budget is between $626-748 million over six years. Klohn-Crippen Consultants Ltd are the Master Spec Writers for the project. Golder Assoc (GAIA) Inc were awarded the Right Abutment Stage ll. Voith Hydro Inc were awarded the Turbine & Generator contract.
Project:02210; seismic investigation, seismic upgrades, operational & safety standard upgrades to the upper portion of the 77 year old generating station & dam built in 1930; the project involves replacing the existing seven gates & piers with five new larger gates & piers, electrical & mechanical upgrades, & some civil works. The tentative details for each phase are as follows: Phase One - replacement & reinforcement of the of the western bank of the dam with a specialized waterproofing membrane; Phase Two - replacement of the spillway gates (five) & widening the top road to accommodate two lanes; Phase Three - major seismic upgrades to the existing powerhouse, restoration/upgrades & replacement of the three generators with 38 MW generators to produce a ttl of 379 gigaW's per year; Phase Four - relocation of the rooftop electrical substation to an area on the eastern side of the dam.
