Note: The final business plan including working drawings and specifications has been completed and submitted to the Treasury Board that should issue its opinion to the Quebec government for approval. Provincial government is reevaluating the project. Timelines for the government decree authorizing the construction start are undetermined. After approval and tender issuing construction will take approximately thirty months.
Firm Bouthillette Parizeau & Associés is the commissioning consultant for the Amos Detention Centre construction project.
Project:reinforced concrete foundation, cast-in-place concrete structural frame, structural steel frame, brick exterior, concrete block exterior, electric heating system, fuel fired heating system, proposed construction of an environmentally friendly building for an ultramodern detention centre including three residential wings: one for Inuits, one for Crees and one for non-natives. The centre will house 190 prisoners in total, including 80 spaces for aboriginals. The scope of the project also includes installation of dormitories for 30 temporary prisoners. This project will seek LEED Certification.
