Project:expansion to the waste water treatment plant. The existing I&I retention tanks would be decommissioned and a new peak flow attenuation facility would be constructed. The new I&I retention tanks will be situated at the site of two (2) existing sludge storage lagoons, located on the southwest side of the site, which were previously used for winter storage of liquid biosolids for land application on local agricultural lands during the summer months. The new peak flow attenuation facility will have a 25,000 m3 storage volume. A separate pump station for conveying flows to the new I&I retention tanks, or bypass to UV disinfection will also be constructed. As part of all the works, the existing screening facility will be replaced. The existing screening facility is reported to have a rated peak flow capacity of 190,900 m3/d. However, the existing facility has operational issues that limit the capacity. Also, the mechanical screens are past the end of their life expectancy and should be replaced. The works also will include: the demolition of the existing garage and old blower building immediately to the east of the existing peak attenuation units; provision of a new maintenance workshop with the following size and features: the facility will be an aluminum shell with slab on grade, with approximately 604 m2 (6,500 ft2); with pitched roof and include a workshop area, a welding area, a wash bay with space for storage of vehicles, parts storage room, additional storage room, office space for three (3) staff, lockers and showers and separate kitchen area. In addition, the works will include conversion of the workshop and garage in the existing administration building to two (2) offices and a training room.
