Vancouver elementary school slated for upgrades
A $15.2 million seismic replacement for L'Ecole Bilingue Elementary in Vancouver is moving forward.
The project agreement was signed on Jan. 29 between the British Columbia Ministry of Education and the Vancouver school board.
The new school will have capacity for 485 kindergarten to Grade 7 students.
The new facility will also feature a Neighbourhood Learning Centre with a musical/choral specialty room, performance space and a child-care facility.
About $12 million is being provided for the new school, while $3.2 million is being invested to create temporary accommodations on the South Hill Education Centre property for students while construction on the new school is underway.
Construction of the new school will begin in fall 2013 and is expected to be complete by August 2015.
